Nose Surgery Processes From Start to Finish

Rhinoplasty (often referred to as “nose surgery” or a “nose job“) is one of the most frequent cosmetic operations globally.

Rhinoplasty is an esthetic and functional treatment that sculpts the contour of the nose on the outside and inside. The objective is to give the nose a genuine, unaltered appearance that precisely complements the individual’s appearance.

What is The Process of a Rhinoplasty?

While it is a common process, getting a nose job is a choice that should be carefully considered. We wanted to educate you on what to anticipate at each stage of the procedure, from your initial rhinoplasty consultation through surgery and healing. Ista Clinica is a cosmetic surgery practice with considerable experience doing rhinoplasties.

1. The Rhinoplasty Consultation

The initial stage in the rhinoplasty procedure for individuals is a comprehensive consultation with a plastic surgeon. Following the application and first images, the surgeon discusses any aesthetic concerns with the patient and examines the interior of their nose for breathing problems.

Then, on the equipment, transform the patient’s photographs to show the surgery’s planned aims. Patients may also be shown before-and-after images of noses that are comparable in size and shape to their own.

At Ista Clinica, we inform them whether they are a good candidate for rhinoplasty surgery. We also inform them if they aren’t.

You’ll go through the operating plan that your surgeon has established in your second appointment before surgery. Speak out if there’s anything you don’t like or aren’t sure about. Your nose surgeon wants you to be pleased with it. If you’re happy with the plan, you’ll schedule your nose surgery appointment.

2. The Rhinoplasty Preparation

Preparation and planning are essential for a successful operation and recuperation, as it is for every surgical treatment. We suggest avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and smoking one month before surgery to help decrease oedema, bleeding, and bruising (particularly in patients flying in for the treatment).

3. The Rhinoplasty Procedure

Rhinoplasty is usually done as an outpatient procedure and may be done in two ways: open or closed. Both procedures include incisions inside the nostrils, but the open rhinoplasty procedure adds an external incision (a few millimetres) on the underside of the columella (i.e. the tissue that divides the nostrils).

The scar from the exterior cut is permanent. The nose’s skin is then unwrapped (similar to removing the hood of a vehicle) to reveal the interior components of the nose.

This is required for noses that have been mishandled or that have been previously operated on, as well as noses with very challenging anatomy.

All incisions for closed rhinoplasty are performed within the nose, so there are no exterior cuts and no chance of scarring. The nose is then moulded and sculpted for small modifications using these interior incisions. We don’t change the shape of the face at Ista Clinica, but we do smooth and enhance the overall harmony of the face.

The plastic surgeon will choose the best rhinoplasty incisions for the patient depending on the needed structural changes.
